The Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde (TOMT) Grassroots Political Movement has appealed to Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to recognise, empower and reward members of the movement who have contributed to grassroots mobilisation and support for his administration.
The appeal was contained in a letter signed by the State Coordinator of the movement, Bukola Adeyemi, and addressed to Governor Makinde.
The group expressed appreciation for what it described as Makinde’s visionary leadership, exceptional performance and people-centred administration, while drawing attention to the sacrifices and political mobilisation efforts undertaken by its members in support of the governor, the Omituntun 2.0 agenda and the broader progressive vision of his administration.
According to the movement, its members and coordinators have remained active in taking the message of good governance, continuity, development and responsible leadership to residents across the state. It said its grassroots structures currently span the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State, with coordinators and political networks operating at local government, ward and community levels.
TOMT listed its contributions to include grassroots sensitisation and political mobilisation, door-to-door voter engagement and canvassing, community advocacy, stakeholder engagement and mobilisation of supporters for government and political programmes. The movement also said it had consistently promoted the achievements and developmental programmes of the Oyo State Government.
The group further stated that it had worked to build sustainable grassroots structures capable of strengthening public support and contributing to future political success. It therefore appealed to the governor to consider its committed members and coordinators for political appointments, strategic responsibilities and grassroots leadership positionswithin the party and government.
TOMT also requested consideration for its members in appointments to boards, committees and relevant government agencies, as well as empowerment initiatives, training and capacity-building programmes. Other requests included formal recognition and commendation for outstanding grassroots service, welfare support, incentives and appropriate compensation for dedicated mobilisers.
The movement equally appealed for inclusion in future political structures, campaigns and strategic grassroots assignments, arguing that recognising and empowering loyal grassroots stakeholders would strengthen political institutions, deepen public confidence and encourage greater commitment to the administration’s progressive ideals. TOMT reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Makinde’s administration and pledged to further strengthen its structures across the 33 local government areas while describing itself as a strategic grassroots partner for present and future political engagements.
