The Oyo State Government has criticised Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, over his recent comments against Governor Seyi Makinde and his administration, accusing him of spreading misinformation and making unsubstantiated allegations for political reasons.
In a statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on October 18, 2026, the government said Adebayo was free to support any political candidate but should not distort facts or misrepresent the achievements of the present administration.
The government described Adebayo’s criticism of the Ogbere–Amuloko–Akanran–Ilaji–Ogun State border road as exaggerated, explaining that the project forms part of a World Bank-supported rural access corridor subject to procurement rules, environmental assessments and phased implementation. It also denied allegations of diverting local government funds, maintaining that joint funding of strategic roads was lawful and that councils continued to function and execute projects.
On road infrastructure, the government said projects were being handled through rehabilitation, reconstruction and new construction based on engineering assessments and budget realities. It dismissed claims of poor standards or disregard for costs, stating that procurement procedures, competitive bidding and oversight guided the execution of projects.

Addressing criticism of the education sector, the government cited improved WAEC performance, increased enrolment, teacher welfare and infrastructure investment. It said the School Governing Board model had been integrated into a broader reform framework, while the Education Trust Fund continued to operate under due process. It also highlighted teacher recruitment and the resolution of longstanding issues at Ladoke Akintola University.
The government also rejected claims about the state’s health facilities, describing them as inaccurate and disrespectful to health workers. It said several hospitals had been renovated and equipped, while the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency had been strengthened. On security, it highlighted support for Amotekun, improved logistics for federal security agencies and the repositioning of the Security Trust Fund, adding that the surveillance aircraft procurement followed due approvals.
Regarding the Circular Road project, the government said the contract was reviewed because of contractual and technical concerns, insisting that authorities had a responsibility to renegotiate or terminate agreements that did not serve the public interest. It also defended the Operation Light Up Oyo initiative and the rehabilitation of Lekan Salami Stadium, which it said had enabled the venue to host international matches.
The government maintained that Makinde welcomed constructive criticism but would not accept what it described as politically motivated allegations and historical distortions. It urged the public to assess the administration based on its record in road construction, education, healthcare, security and governance reforms, insisting that tangible results would speak for themselves.
