The National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, has died at the age of 100.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, confirmed his death in a statement personally issued on Tuesday, expressing sadness over the passing of the elder statesman.
The governor said, “With a heavy heart but with total submission to the will of God, I announce the passing of our revered elder statesman, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who departed this world at the glorious age of 100.”
Aiyedatiwa’s announcement marks the passing of a prominent figure in Yoruba socio-political affairs who led Afenifere, an organisation associated with the promotion of Yoruba interests and political advocacy.
The governor concluded his statement with a prayer for the repose of the deceased’s soul, saying, “May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
