The Gbolarumi Campaign Organisation has announced that it has taken over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat at Molete, Ibadan, describing the development as the beginning of a new phase for the party in Oyo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the group said the takeover of the party’s long-standing headquarters represents the return of what it called the “authentic PDP” to its political base after a prolonged internal crisis over the control of party structures.
The organisation alleged that the Molete secretariat had previously been under the influence of loyalists of Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing the governor of shifting his political allegiance toward the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) while neglecting the PDP.

According to the group, reclaiming the secretariat marks a significant turning point in the party’s internal struggle and signals the emergence of a renewed political movement under the leadership of former Deputy Governor and PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi.
The campaign organisation stated that the development is not merely about taking possession of a building but about restoring the party’s structure, vision and political direction in Oyo State.
It also announced plans to embark on an extensive grassroots mobilisation campaign across the 33 local government areas of the state as part of preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
The group disclosed that the Molete secretariat would immediately begin functioning as its central coordination hub, where party leaders, members and supporters would meet to strategise ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Political observers believe the announcement could further intensify tensions within the Oyo PDP, as rival factions continue to lay claim to the party’s leadership and organisational structures while the contest ahead of the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.
