The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, on Friday, October 23, 2026, flagged off the construction of a 4.5-kilometre Ijokodo–Agbaje and Surulere Street–Apete–Gbaremu Ring Road, aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities across benefiting communities.

The ceremony attracted political leaders, government officials, traditional and market leaders, community representatives and residents from Ibadan North and neighbouring Ido Local Government. In his address, Olufade appreciated Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for providing him with the platform to serve and pursue grassroots development.

Olufade disclosed that his administration had constructed approximately 30 kilometres of roads since its inception, describing the new project as another step towards addressing infrastructure needs. He noted that the road would improve movement between Ibadan North and Ido, ease transportation and promote commercial activities.

The chairman urged residents to cooperate with the engineers and construction workers throughout the project. He assured them that the road would be completed and commissioned by January 2027, a timeline also confirmed by the Managing Director of the construction company, Track Care, Mr. Timothy Iyioma.

In his goodwill message, the Oyo State Public Relations Officer of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Hon. Michael Ogunsina, commended Olufade for fulfilling his promise to facilitate the road project. He recalled that the chairman had made the commitment about a year earlier and praised him for taking steps to address the community’s infrastructure needs.

The APM governorship candidate in Oyo State, Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, commended Olufade for his infrastructure projects, describing them as examples of translating political commitments into practical development. He subsequently flagged off construction by operating an excavator and cutting the ceremonial ribbon, marking the official commencement of work.
