The Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi Campaign Organisation has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and its governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, of making unfounded allegations against the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) over recent incidents of violence in Ibadan.

In a statement signed by its Deputy Director of Media and Publicity, Moses Alao, on Sunday, the organisation urged the APC and the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) to act responsibly and avoid accusations capable of heightening tension in the state.

The campaign organisation faulted allegations linking APM supporters to attacks involving Accord Party members and the alleged killing of a man identified as Ridwan, also known as Paul Moore, in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. It argued that the accusations had not been substantiated with specific details identifying the alleged perpetrators.

The organisation called on the Department of State Services and the Oyo State Police Command to intervene and caution political parties against making sensational claims, warning that such allegations could undermine security efforts and make criminal acts appear politically motivated.

It maintained that APM, Governor Seyi Makinde and governorship candidate Bimbo Adekanmbi had no involvement in the reported violence, describing them as peace-loving. It also urged political parties to allow security agencies to investigate the incidents and establish the facts.

The campaign organisation further accused the APC and SSACO of attempting to blame the APM and the state government for various incidents without providing evidence. It referenced videos and photographs allegedly showing Accord Party members carrying axes at Molete, while insisting that security agencies should determine what happened.

It also urged residents to be cautious about what it described as false and one-sided reports being circulated by online media platforms, warning against the use of unverified allegations to influence public opinion ahead of the 2027 elections.

The organisation reaffirmed its support for Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition, Adekanmbi’s governorship bid and other APM candidates, expressing confidence that the allegations would not sway voters. It called on all political actors to exercise restraint and allow the law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties.
