The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for promoting inclusive, transparent and people-oriented governance through the annual stakeholders’ consultative budget meeting.
Olufade delivered the message on behalf of local government chairmen across the state at the 2027 budget consultation held at Olola Ogunlana Hall, International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Second Gate, Ibadan.
The meeting provided an opportunity for stakeholders to share ideas, highlight community needs and make recommendations towards shaping the state’s development priorities for the 2027 fiscal year.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Olufade described the consultation as evidence of Makinde’s commitment to participatory budgeting, transparency and accountability. He stressed that citizens’ contributions were important in ensuring that government policies reflected the needs of the people.
He noted that the success of governance should be measured by its impact on ordinary citizens, particularly at the grassroots, through improved infrastructure, living conditions and access to essential services.
The Ibadan North chairman also appreciated the governor for his commitment to Oyo State’s development, urging him not to be distracted by critics. However, he called for more attention to inner roads across local government areas to improve accessibility and ease transportation.
Olufade further emphasised the need for sustained collaboration between state and local governments to strengthen grassroots development and ensure that more communities benefit from government programmes.
He expressed confidence that contributions from the meeting would help produce a responsive 2027 budget that addresses the people’s needs, while praying for continued peace, unity and progress in Oyo State, particularly Ibadan North Local Government.
