Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared that it would be difficult for any future administration to dismantle the strong institutions established by his government over the last seven and a half years.
The governor made this known on Thursday during the commissioning of the newly constructed office complex of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA), noting that his administration would be remembered for creating institutions that did not exist before 2019.
Makinde listed OYRLEA, the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun), the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), the Project Performance Monitoring Agency, the Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socioeconomic Development (OYMASED), and the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) as institutions established to strengthen governance and promote long-term development.
He maintained that any administration committed to the progress of Oyo State would sustain the institutions rather than dismantle them. According to him, respect for the rule of law promotes order, attracts investors and improves the economy.

The governor also commended OYRLEA Chairperson, Justice Aderonke Aderemi (rtd), for her commitment to upholding the rule of law, stating that he had no regrets appointing her despite differences they had experienced at certain points.
In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, congratulated the Authority on its achievements and said the law establishing it reflected the Assembly’s commitment to addressing practical governance needs. He urged OYRLEA to discharge its responsibilities transparently and called on residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the agency.
Ogundoyin highlighted the Authority’s responsibilities in enforcing laws on environmental protection, sanitation, waste control, road traffic management, open rearing and grazing, among other related matters, describing them as important to the state’s development.
Earlier, Justice Aderemi described the commissioning of the office complex and the unveiling of OYRLEA’s maiden magazine as significant milestones in strengthening law enforcement and promoting public order. She said the Authority had intensified enforcement of the state’s Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Law through monitoring, public enlightenment and collaboration with traditional institutions, local governments and security agencies to promote peaceful coexistence among farmers, herders and other residents.
She appreciated Governor Makinde for his support and the State House of Assembly for providing the legislative framework for the Authority’s establishment.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Barrister Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal; former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Badejoko Adeniji; President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Tajudeen Abdulganiyu; Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde; Chief of Staff, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole; Head of Service, Dr. Adenike Fashina; and other government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, security commanders and dignitaries.
