The Oyo State Government has congratulated the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Oyo State Council, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, on his emergence as President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
In a statement signed by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Special Adviser (Media) to the Oyo State Governor, Acting Governor Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal described Olabiyi-Agoro’s emergence as a positive development for PENGASSAN, expressing confidence that his experience, exposure and patriotism would contribute to taking the association to greater heights.
Lawal commended the TUC chairman for being a worthy ambassador of Oyo State and for continuing to uphold the state’s reputation for excellence. He noted that Olabiyi-Agoro’s emergence was another testament to the quality of leadership and talent coming from the state.
The Acting Governor said Governor Seyi Makinde was delighted that a leading labour unionist who had worked closely with his administration towards improving workers’ welfare had emerged as the leader of one of Nigeria’s foremost trade unions.
Lawal congratulated Olabiyi-Agoro, describing him as a man of purpose whose commitment to labour unionism and workers’ advancement has remained evident over the years.
He expressed confidence that the new PENGASSAN President would deploy his wealth of experience to advance the interests and objectives of the association while providing effective leadership to its members.
The Acting Governor further reaffirmed the commitment of the Makinde administration to maintaining a harmonious relationship with labour unions and their leaders in Oyo State, with the goal of improving workers’ welfare and promoting good governance.
He wished Comrade Olabiyi-Agoro a successful tenure, noting that his new position provides another opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s labour movement and the wider economy.
