Olufade Wins Best Performing LG Chair Award, Donates ₦1m to Ebira House Project

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, popularly known as Onala, has been honoured with the Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award for 2025/2026, in recognition of his leadership, people-oriented governance and developmental achievements.

 

 

The award was presented to Olufade on Saturday, August 29, 2026, by the Ebira People’s Community, Ibadan Chapter, during the 2026 Ebira Day celebration and fundraising ceremony for the proposed construction of an Ebira House in Ibadan.

 

 

The event, held at Cultural Centre Hall 2, Mokola, attracted traditional rulers, business leaders, religious leaders, political stakeholders and other distinguished personalities. The award was received on behalf of the chairman by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Hamdy Mustapha.

 

 

Presenting the award, the Odeyi-Ohinoyi Anebira of Oyo State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ambassador Chief Lamidi Aliu Ozi Balogun, described Olufade as a young, brilliant and vibrant leader whose achievements in Ibadan North were visible and impactful.

 

 

The traditional ruler particularly commended Olufade’s inclusive style of leadership, noting that his administration accommodates people from different ethnic backgrounds. He urged the chairman to sustain his people-oriented governance and assured him of the Ebira community’s continued goodwill.

 

 

Responding, Mustapha appreciated the Ebira People’s Community for recognising the chairman’s efforts, describing the award as an encouragement to do more. He said the administration would continue to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach residents across Ibadan North, irrespective of tribe, religion or background.

As part of his support for the community, Olufade, through his representative, announced a ₦1 million donation from Ibadan North Local Government towards the proposed ₦200 million Ebira House project in Ibadan.

 

 

The gesture, alongside the recognition, further demonstrated the Olufade administration’s commitment to community development, peaceful coexistence and inclusive governance. His administration has continued to receive commendations for its interventions in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, youth empowerment and social development across Ibadan North.
