The Oyo State Government has appealed to residents and youths in Ojoo, Akinyele Local Government Area, to remain calm and embrace peace following the violence that recently erupted in the area.
The appeal was made by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, during an on-the-spot assessment of the affected community. In a statement signed by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the government assured residents that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the unrest.
Barrister Lawal condemned the violence and warned against giving criminal acts ethnic or tribal interpretations, stressing that criminality has no ethnic identity and would be dealt with according to the law.

He commended security agencies for their swift intervention in containing the situation and directed them to maintain a strong presence in the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The deputy governor assured residents that anyone found responsible for the crisis, regardless of tribe or ethnicity, would be prosecuted, urging youths and other residents not to take the law into their own hands.

He also acknowledged reports of two casualties and pledged that the government would investigate both the immediate and remote causes of the incident to ensure justice is served.
Earlier, a youth representative appealed to the government to facilitate dialogue between leaders of the affected groups to prevent reprisals and promote lasting peace in the community.

Following the visit, Barrister Lawal met with Yoruba and Hausa community leaders, who maintained that the incident was not an ethnic conflict. They reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledged to work together with the government to sustain peace and harmony in Ojoo.
