Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has commended the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, for delivering three major infrastructural projects aimed at boosting commerce, safety, and transportation in the Bodija International Market.
The governor gave the commendation on Thursday while commissioning the 2-kilometre Bodija International Market Road, a newly constructed Fire Service Station, and an ultra-modern car park with lock-up shops, all executed by the Ibadan North Local Government.
Governor Makinde described the projects as evidence that local government councils in Oyo State are effectively delivering impactful grassroots development, adding that the achievements reflect his administration’s commitment to strengthening local government autonomy and service delivery.
He praised Hon. Olufade’s leadership, noting that the projects would enhance commercial activities, improve public safety, create a more conducive business environment, and stimulate economic growth in the state.
The governor also named the newly constructed ultra-modern car park with lock-up shops after the renowned Ibadan warlord, Balogun Oderinlo, while urging traders and residents to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at sustainable development.
In his remarks, Hon. Olufade thanked Governor Makinde for providing an enabling environment that made the projects possible, stating that the new infrastructure would improve transportation, strengthen emergency response, expand business opportunities, and further position Bodija International Market as a leading commercial hub.
Also speaking, contractor Mr. Adekunle Akinpelu said the projects addressed long-standing infrastructure and safety challenges, particularly the construction of the modern fire service station, which would enhance emergency response and help prevent fire outbreaks within the market.
Market leaders, including the Chairman of Bodija Market, Oke Darosa, the Otun Iyaloja, Alhaja Oyebamiji, and the Babaloja, Alhaji S.A. Jimoh, commended Governor Makinde and Hon. Olufade for the projects, describing them as major interventions that would improve the ease of doing business, enhance safety, and promote economic growth. The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal, federal lawmakers, state legislators, government officials, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, market leaders, and other stakeholders.
