The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected merchants of human parts and recovered suspected human body parts and charms from them.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Sunday.
According to Ayanlade, the suspects were arrested following several months of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance carried out by operatives of the command’s monitoring unit.
He said the arrests were the result of concerted efforts by the police to track individuals allegedly involved in the illegal trade in human body parts across the state.

The police spokesperson noted that the operation followed intelligence gathered by the monitoring unit, which subsequently carried out surveillance on the suspects before moving to make the arrests.
The recovery of the suspected body parts and charms, he said, formed part of the items secured by the police during the operation.
Ayanlade quoted the Commissioner of Police as assuring residents that the command would continue to intensify efforts aimed at identifying and apprehending criminal elements operating within Oyo State.
The Commissioner further assured members of the public that the police remained resolute in their determination to rid the state of criminal elements and protect the sanctity of human life.
