The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, has been honoured as the Youth-Focused Local Government Chairman of the Year at the 11th edition of the MAYA Awards 2026, held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a statement signed by Aderibigbe Yisahu Ajibola, Head of Media to the Ibadan North Local Government Chairman, the award recognised Olufade’s contributions to youth development and his youth-centred approach to governance. As the youngest Local Government Chairman in Oyo State, he has continued to prioritise initiatives that promote the welfare, empowerment and development of young people.
Although his administration operates an inclusive system of governance for all residents, Olufade has distinguished himself through deliberate interventions in education, vocational skills acquisition, youth empowerment and support for creative talents.
Through these programmes, the chairman has demonstrated his belief that young people are not only leaders of tomorrow but important stakeholders in governance and development today. His administration’s efforts have also positioned him as a model for young Nigerians interested in public service and political leadership.
The MAYA Awards, now in its 11th edition, also honoured distinguished business leaders, public servants, captains of industry and notable personalities for their contributions to entertainment and other sectors of society.
The award was received on behalf of the chairman by his Head of Media, Mr. Aderibigbe Yisahu, who expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising Olufade’s efforts in advancing youth development.
Yisahu noted that the recognition would further motivate the chairman to intensify his commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion and grassroots development.
He reaffirmed Olufade’s determination to create more opportunities for young people while ensuring that all segments of Ibadan North benefit from his administration’s inclusive governance.
