The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sports development following the double triumph of Pacesetter Queens Football Club in the Oyo State Challenge Cup and the Ibadan Football Association (IFA) League.
The management of the club presented the two trophies to the state government during a reception at the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports, where the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, received the victorious team through the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Sunday Akinwale Moradeyo.
The trophies were presented as a symbol of the club’s achievements and the state’s continued investment in sports development, youth empowerment, and talent discovery under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adegoke described the victories as a testament to the positive impact of government support, discipline, teamwork, and dedication, noting that sports remain a key tool for youth development and economic opportunities in Oyo State.
She commended the players and technical crew for their resilience and urged them to remain focused, stressing that the latest achievements should serve as a stepping stone to greater accomplishments.
On behalf of the club, Team Manager Prince Babatunde Adegorowa expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his unwavering commitment to sports development, attributing the team’s success to the enabling environment created by the administration.
Adegorowa disclosed that Pacesetter Queens emerged champions of both the Oyo State Challenge Cup and the Ibadan Football Association League, describing the victories as products of hard work and government support.
He assured the state government that the club would sustain its winning culture and continue to bring honour to Oyo State through outstanding performances in future competitions.
The event highlighted the Oyo State Government’s continued investment in sports as a catalyst for youth development, with officials expressing confidence that the success of Pacesetter Queens would inspire more young athletes and further strengthen the state’s reputation in Nigerian football.
