Makinde Nominates Oyeleke, Ojo as Commissioners, Sends Names to Oyo Assembly for Confirmation

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has nominated Dr. Lateef Idowu Oyeleke and Barrister Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo for appointment as Commissioners, forwarding their names to the Oyo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

In a letter dated May 26, 2026, with reference SP/S.663/2/VOL. III/436, the governor notified the Speaker and members of the House of his intention to present the two nominees for consideration.

Makinde urged the Assembly to give the process “the usual kind and expeditious consideration,” citing Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

“Please accept the assurances of my personal regards,” the letter stated.

Dr. Oyeleke, a former Commissioner for Environment in the state, and Ojo, who previously represented Saki East/Atisbo State Constituency in the House of Assembly, are the latest nominees to the State Executive Council.

The announcement was contained in a press release issued on Monday by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Special Adviser on Media to the governor.

The House of Assembly is expected to fix a date for the screening of the nominees.
