The Nigerian Army has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement inviting applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027, warning Nigerians against falling victim to fraudsters.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the advert circulating on social media and other online platforms did not originate from the Nigerian Army.
The Army described the advertisement as false, fraudulent and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard it completely.
Prospective applicants were specifically warned not to apply through, patronise or make payments to any individual, group or website claiming to conduct recruitment on behalf of the Nigerian Army.
The military emphasized that all its recruitment and commissioning exercises are strictly free, transparent and merit-based, with no authorised agent permitted to facilitate recruitment or collect money at any stage of the process.
According to the statement, official recruitment announcements are published only through national newspapers, the Nigerian Army’s verified social media platforms and other recognised official communication channels.
The Army also disclosed that security agencies have been activated to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for producing, circulating or using the fake advertisement to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
It urged the public to verify recruitment information only through official Army channels and to report any suspicious recruitment activities to the nearest military formation or security agency for prompt investigation and action.
