The Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery has dismissed reports alleging the closure of its Kishi and Oyo satellite campuses, assuring students, parents and stakeholders that academic activities are continuing without interruption.
The institution also presented virtual learning gadgets to the two satellite campuses to sustain online classes and improve teaching and learning across its campuses.
Presenting the gadgets to the Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Hon. Taoheed Olayiwola, the Provost, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, described the closure report as fake news deliberately circulated to mislead the public and create unnecessary panic within the college community.
Dr. Owolabi stated that the college had not issued any directive ordering the closure of the campuses, stressing that the institution remains safe, fully operational and committed to delivering quality nursing education.
She explained that virtual classes have continued seamlessly across the three campuses, enabling students to participate in lectures simultaneously and facilitating resource sharing among the campuses.
The provost commended the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde for providing the support needed to sustain effective teaching and learning, while urging the public to disregard misleading reports and rely only on official communication channels.
In a statement issued by the college management, the institution reaffirmed that both the Oyo and Kishi campuses remain open for academic activities, with lecturers continuing their duties throughout the week, and warned against the spread of unverified information capable of causing fear and confusion.
Speaking at the event, Irepo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Taoheed Olayiwola, praised the college management for its proactive leadership and described the virtual learning initiative as a timely intervention that would significantly enhance learning outcomes at the Kishi campus, while also commending Governor Makinde and Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal for their support for the institution.
