The nine Local Government Chairmen in Oyo South Senatorial District have pledged to mobilize grassroots support to ensure the victory of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2027 general elections across the district.
The resolution was reached during a strategic meeting held in Ibadan on Tuesday, where the chairmen agreed to work collectively toward the emergence of APM candidates for the governorship, Oyo South senatorial seat, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly positions.
The forum described Oyo South as a critical political bloc in Oyo State, stressing that early and coordinated grassroots mobilization would be key to the party’s success in the next election cycle.
According to the chairmen, elections are won at the grassroots, and as leaders closest to the people, they are committed to strengthening the party’s structures across all wards and communities within the senatorial district.
They also noted that residents of Oyo South are seeking purposeful leadership, accountability, and sustainable development, expressing confidence that the APM offers the right platform to meet those aspirations.
The meeting was attended physically by Hon. Shola Adeleke (Ibarapa Central), Hon. Arogundade (Ibarapa East), Hon. Ramoni (Ibadan North West), Hon. Seun Olufade (Ibadan North), Hon. Akintayo (Ibadan North East), and the host chairman, Hon. Kehinde Akande (Ibadan South West). Hon. Lateef (Ibarapa North), Hon. Sheriff Adeojo (Ido), and Hon. Alawode (Ibadan South East) participated virtually.
The chairmen reaffirmed their commitment to unity and collaboration, expressing confidence that a coordinated approach would position the APM for significant electoral gains across the district in 2027.
They declared that Oyo South would speak with one voice during the elections, promising to work from the ward level upward to secure victories for all APM candidates seeking elective offices.
Oyo South Senatorial District comprises nine local governments: Ibadan North, Ibadan North East, Ibadan North West, Ibadan South East, Ibadan South West, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North, and Ido.
