Some concerned youths of the All Progressives Congress in the Old Irepo Federal Constituency have expressed dissatisfaction over the emergence of Bosun Oladele as the party’s preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 elections. The group described the decision as unpopular among many party members within Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo local government areas.
According to the group, many party faithful allegedly boycotted the primary election following the announcement of Oladele as the preferred candidate. They claimed grassroots members believe Badmos Bashir Adeola enjoys wider acceptance, stronger grassroots support and greater capacity to mobilise support for the party within the constituency.
The youths warned that the APC risks losing the constituency to opposition parties if the concerns of party members are ignored. They alleged that opposition parties are already optimistic about their chances due to the perceived dissatisfaction within the APC over the outcome of the primary process.
The group, however, reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC while calling on the party leadership at both the state and national levels to review the outcome of the primary election. They appealed for a fresh and transparent process that would reflect the wishes of the majority of party members in the constituency.
Press release excerpts below:
*BOSUN OLADELE IS AN USURPER: A CALL FOR REFLECTION ON THE APC PRIMARY ELECTION FOR OYO STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES*
_Old Irepo Federal Constituency_
The recent primary election for the House of Representatives ticket in Oyo State, and the direction of the APC nationally, has left many of us in APC especially Old Irepo Federal Constituency;(Irepo Oorelope Olorunshogo)with serious concerns.
It is the general sentiment among party members that *Hon. Bosun Oladele is the wrong candidate* for our constituency at this time.
His pronouncement as the prefer candidate by the party directive cause people to boycott the primary election. Even members across APC have been saying openly: _“If it is Bosun Oladele, we are ready to spoil the party.”_ That is how deep the dissatisfaction runs.
The truth is simple: elections are won by candidates who can pull the crowd and connect with the grassroots. In Old Irepo Federal Constituency, the information we heard was that the preferred candidate by the people was the choice of the party until 12:00am on the 16th of may 2026! Hon. Badmos Bashir Adeola is the man of the people from the grassroots and he has been bc with the party for long time with a lot of effort aim at holding the party together and empowering people with a lot of people oriented!program within the party and beyond.
He has the structure, the acceptance, and the capacity to mobilize people for APC. His name alone inspires confidence among our youths, elders, and party faithful.
If the leaders refuse to give us Hon. Badmos Bashir Adeola we are at risk of losing Old Irepo Federal Constituency to another party. And this is a verifiable fact across the constituency.
The opposition is already jubilating because they believe APC has chosen a candidate who cannot carry the people along and it is a good chance for them to win at the constituency with conveniency.
We are not speaking out of hatred for anyone. We are speaking out of love for APC and for the future of our constituency. A party cannot win by imposing a candidate that people have rejected and who has bad record with the party Leadership in the generality of our beloved federal constituency. We appeal to the party to listening to the voice of the majority at the grassroots. By re conducting the primary with close monitoring and fairness and see the actual result than this self writing and self accorded winner of Hon. Bosun Oladele.
This is our appeal to the leadership of APC in Oyo State and at the national level: *review this decision before it is too late*. The interest of the party must come first before personal interest. If APC wants to retain Old Irepo Federal Constituency, then the will of the people must be respected.
We remain loyal to APC. But loyalty must be met with fairness. Give us a candidate that people believe in, and victory will be sure. Deny us that, and we risk losing what we have worked for over the years.
