Preparations have reached an advanced stage for the Global Conference on Beneficial Ownership and Asset Recovery, with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) leading arrangements for the landmark international event in collaboration with key government agencies and strategic partners.
The conference, jointly organized by the CAC alongside the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGZAF), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Code of Conduct Bureau, Banwo & Ighodalo, Templars Law Firm, and other partners, is expected to attract participants from more than 250 countries and jurisdictions.
The gathering is aimed at strengthening global cooperation on beneficial ownership transparency, corporate governance, and asset recovery, while reaffirming Nigeria’s growing role in promoting accountability and combating illicit financial flows.

As part of ongoing preparations, the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporate Affairs Commission received a delegation from Open Ownership, led by Mr. Tom, alongside representatives of the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
During the meeting, both parties reviewed the progress and impact of Nigeria’s Beneficial Ownership Register, highlighting its contribution to improving transparency, strengthening corporate governance, and supporting efforts to combat financial crimes.
The discussions also underscored the importance of sustained international collaboration in advancing beneficial ownership reforms and enhancing global asset recovery initiatives.
Stakeholders noted that the conference will provide a platform for policymakers, regulators, law enforcement agencies, development partners, and experts from across the world to exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships on financial transparency.
The event is expected to further position Nigeria as a leading advocate for beneficial ownership disclosure and reinforce its commitment to international standards on transparency, accountability, and the recovery of illicit assets.
