Oyo Aligns with FG on Industrialisation, Investment and SME Growth

The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to accelerate industrial development, expand trade opportunities and create more jobs for residents of the state.

 

 

The commitment was made by the Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry, Professor Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, while receiving a delegation from the Weights and Measures Department of the Federal Ministry on a courtesy visit to the ministry’s headquarters in Ibadan.

 

 

Professor Adelabu said effective coordination between the Federal and State Governments is essential for economic growth and unemployment reduction, stressing that stronger partnerships would help drive industrialisation and enterprise development.

 

 

He noted that the Federal Government’s focus on industrialisation, investment promotion, digital literacy and business development aligns with Oyo State’s development agenda and provides opportunities for the state to benefit from federal grants, intervention programmes and investment initiatives.

 

 

The commissioner added that agencies under the Federal Ministry offer programmes capable of stimulating economic growth, attracting investments and supporting businesses, while emphasizing the importance of networking and institutional collaboration.

 

 

He also stated that reliable data, strategic partnerships and institutional synergy are crucial to improving Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product, reducing unemployment and enhancing the standard of living of citizens.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Olajide Mamud Okesade, highlighted the existing relationship between Oyo State and the Federal Ministry, particularly in trade and export development, and proposed a technical framework for regular information sharing and stronger policy implementation.

 

 

Speaking on behalf of the Federal Ministry, Deputy Director of the Weights and Measures Department, Engineer Ibiyemi Victor, said the visit was aimed at deepening collaboration on industrialisation, trade facilitation, investment and SME development, while encouraging Oyo State to explore opportunities available through Free Trade Zones and other federal initiatives to enhance industrial capacity and sustainable economic development.
