The Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has extended its anti-corruption enlightenment campaign to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) with the inauguration of an Integrity Ambassador Club aimed at promoting integrity among students.
The initiative was inaugurated by the Executive Secretary of OYACA, Dr. Folasade Ajibade, as part of the agency’s efforts to expand its anti-corruption campaign to tertiary institutions, where future leaders are trained and prepared for leadership responsibilities.
Dr. Ajibade explained that OYACA commenced full operations in April 2021 with the mandate to combat corruption and other corrupt practices across Oyo State. She stressed that young people have a crucial role to play in the fight against corruption, hence the agency’s decision to catch them young by instilling integrity and anti-corruption values.
The OYACA Executive Secretary described youths as catalysts of change, noting that their passion, creativity and determination make them important in building a transparent and just society. She said Integrity Ambassador Clubs had been established across tertiary institutions in the state to encourage greater youth participation in the fight against corruption.

She charged the newly inaugurated ambassadors to see their membership as a responsibility entrusted to them by the Oyo State Government. Their responsibilities, she said, include maintaining personal integrity and clean academic records, promoting anti-corruption values among students through sensitisation campaigns, debates and essay competitions, and reporting corrupt practices to OYACA.
Dr. Ajibade defined corruption as the abuse of a position of trust for personal gain, noting that it could include demanding gratification, misuse of political power, sexual gratification, nepotism, misappropriation of public funds and non-performance of government contracts.
She assured the ambassadors of continuous support through training, materials and mentorship, expressing optimism that the initiative would contribute to making Oyo State a pacesetter and reference point for transparency and accountability in Nigeria.
The Dean of Students Affairs, LAUTECH, Dr. Adepoju Adewusi, thanked OYACA for selecting the institution for the initiative and pledged the university management’s support. The event was attended by OYACA management staff, including the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Tajudeen Azeez; Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Wasiu Alimi; and Chief Legal Officer, Mrs. Eto-Abasi Olayanju, among others.
