A councillorship aspirant of the All Progressives Movement (APM) for Ward 05 in Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Bello Waliy Oladimeji Oluyedun, has intensified grassroots mobilisation for the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration exercise by taking the exercise closer to residents of the Akuro community.
The politician disclosed that he joined other stakeholders in Ward 05 to support efforts aimed at ensuring that eligible residents, particularly young people, have easy access to the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process and the opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
According to Oluyedun, the initiative was designed to reduce barriers to registration and encourage wider participation in the democratic process among residents of the community.
Speaking during the mobilisation exercise, he stressed the importance of civic participation and urged residents not to underestimate the power of their votes in determining the future of their communities and the country at large.
“I joined other Ward 05 stakeholders in bringing the ongoing INEC registration exercise closer to our people in Akuro. I also mobilised our youths and residents to take advantage of this opportunity to register and obtain their PVCs,” he said.
The aspirant noted that active participation in elections remains one of the most effective ways for citizens to influence governance, hold leaders accountable and contribute to community development.
He particularly encouraged youths, first-time voters and residents who are yet to register to take advantage of the ongoing exercise, emphasizing that voter registration is a critical step toward meaningful political participation.
“Civic participation remains essential, as every vote counts in shaping the future of our community. I encourage everyone who is yet to register to do so and be prepared to actively participate in the forthcoming elections,” Oluyedun added.
He further described the Permanent Voter Card as a powerful tool for democratic engagement, urging residents to see the PVC not merely as a document but as a symbol of their constitutional right to choose their leaders.
“Your PVC is your power; your vote is your voice,” he declared.
The mobilisation exercise attracted residents of Akuro and surrounding areas, with stakeholders using the opportunity to educate community members on the importance of voter registration, electoral participation and peaceful engagement in the democratic process ahead of future elections in Oyo State and across Nigeria.
