Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Sunday paid a sympathy visit to Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, over the abduction of teachers and pupils from Yawota and Esinele communities in Oriire Local Government Area. He was accompanied by leaders of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), including the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Oyo State Governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Mohammed commiserated with the people and government of Oyo State and praised Governor Makinde’s efforts to secure the release of the victims, expressing confidence that the abducted teachers and pupils would soon regain their freedom.
The Bauchi governor also pledged his support towards ongoing rescue efforts, assuring Makinde that the people and government of Bauchi State stand in solidarity with Oyo State during the difficult period and are willing to assist in any way possible.
During the visit, Mohammed congratulated Makinde on his emergence as the APM presidential candidate, describing him as an energetic, determined and visionary leader capable of changing the trajectory of leadership and governance in Nigeria.
Speaking on the nation’s security challenges, Mohammed called for a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s security architecture, stressing the need for greater synergy among security agencies and stronger collaboration between security operatives and citizens.
He further linked insecurity to poor governance, poverty and socio-economic challenges, urging Nigerians to reject criminal tendencies, take responsibility for their communities and make informed leadership choices capable of bringing positive change to the country.
