The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibadan South-West Local Government has appointed the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Kehinde Akande, as Coordinator of its Governorship and Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Oyo State Presidential Campaign Coordinator and Director-General of the Governorship Election, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, following consultations among party leaders and stakeholders in the local government.
According to the statement, Hon. Akande was selected to lead the campaign council because of his political experience, grassroots mobilisation capacity and understanding of the political dynamics of Ibadan South-West.
Other members of the campaign leadership include Olumide Bello as Deputy Coordinator, Sekinat Alakija as Women Coordinator, and Ayo Aderibigbe as Secretary of the Campaign Council.
The party said the appointments were made to build an inclusive, competent and grassroots-driven team capable of effectively mobilising support for the APM ahead of the elections.
APM leaders in Ibadan South-West described Akande as a loyal party member, experienced politician and bridge-builder with wide acceptance across the local government. They expressed confidence that he would lead the campaign council effectively and deliver the party’s mandate.
The party charged the newly constituted council to commence ward-to-ward engagements, voter mobilisation and issue-based campaigns aimed at presenting the APM’s programmes and candidates to residents.
The APM leadership also called on party members, supporters and well-wishers across Ibadan South-West to support the new campaign council and work together towards victory at the polls, adding that the full list of members and campaign itinerary would be released in due course.
