The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority has impounded 10 cows over alleged illegal open grazing and environmental nuisance in the Arola area of Apete, Ibadan.
The authority disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday and signed by its Chairperson, Honourable Justice Aderonke Aderemi (retd.), following an enforcement operation carried out in the area.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted in collaboration with security operatives after residents of the community petitioned the authority over alleged cattle rearing within the densely populated neighbourhood.
The residents reportedly raised concerns about the presence of cattle in the area, citing the potential environmental nuisance and other challenges associated with cattle rearing within the residential community.

The Rule of Law Enforcement Authority subsequently moved in with security operatives to enforce relevant regulations and address the concerns raised by residents.
The 10 cows were impounded during the operation and taken into custody by the authorities pending further action in line with applicable regulations.
The authority reiterated its commitment to enforcing laws and regulations designed to maintain order, protect residents and promote a safe and healthy environment across Oyo State.
It also urged residents to continue to report activities that constitute environmental nuisance or violate existing laws, assuring them that appropriate action would be taken where necessary.
