The installation ceremony for newly nominated Mogajis and Baales in Ibadanland has been postponed by one week following the death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dada John Isioye.

His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, FNSE, Aruna I, directed the postponement as a mark of honour and respect for the late monarch who passed on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The ceremony, originally scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2026, has now been rescheduled to hold on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the same venue and time.

In a statement signed by the Olubadan Palace, Ibadanland, the Palace expressed regret over any inconvenience the shift may cause and appealed for understanding from all stakeholders, nominees, families, and guests.

The Palace also directed that appropriate signage be placed at the ceremony venue and other strategic locations across Ibadanland to inform the public and invited guests of the new date. This is to ensure wide awareness and avoid confusion on Monday.

The installation of Mogajis and Baales is a key traditional process in Ibadanland that strengthens the chieftaincy structure at the grassroots. The one-week delay allows the Olubadan-in-Council and the entire Ibadanland to mourn Oba Isioye before proceeding with the ceremony.
