Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has appealed for patience from residents of Oyo State as efforts continue to secure the safe release of teachers and pupils abducted in Yawota and Ahoro-Esinele communities of Oriire Local Government Area. He made the appeal while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Air Force led by Air Vice Marshal Abubakar A. Suleh at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

The governor commended the Nigerian Air Force for its support in the rescue operation, revealing that the Force deployed one of its Diamond-42 surveillance aircraft to aid search efforts while the two surveillance aircraft purchased by the state government are still being assembled. He noted that the aircraft has provided valuable real-time intelligence to security operatives.

Makinde explained that the state procured the Diamond-42 aircraft to strengthen security operations and support the Air Force in tackling crimes such as kidnapping and banditry. He also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Air Staff and Air Force personnel for their commitment, while pledging continued collaboration on aircraft maintenance, training, and other security initiatives.

Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Suleh conveyed the sympathy and assurances of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday K. Aneke, over the abduction incident. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to supporting ongoing rescue efforts and thanked the Oyo State Government for its sustained support to Air Force projects and operations across the state.
