
The Oyo State Police Command has inaugurated and commissioned a new office for its Violent Crimes Response Unit as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve rapid response to criminal activities across the state.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Seyi Makinde described the initiative as a timely intervention that would further enhance the security architecture of Oyo State and ensure residents continue to live and carry out their activities in peace and safety. He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to supporting security agencies in maintaining law and order across the state.

Governor Makinde also disclosed that the state government is currently working closely with security agencies to obtain clarity on the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. He expressed sympathy to families affected by the incident and offered prayers for those who lost their lives, praying for the peaceful repose of the departed.

According to the governor, the unfortunate incident underscores the need for government and security stakeholders to remain proactive, vigilant and responsive in addressing emerging security challenges. He stressed that security must never be taken for granted, adding that his administration would continue to prioritise measures aimed at protecting lives and property in Oyo State.
