The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed Dr. Ladipo Olabode Taiwo as Commissioner-designate. The approval came during today’s plenary sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
The confirmation followed the presentation of the House Committee on Special Duties’ report. The committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, recommended Dr. Taiwo for confirmation after completing its screening exercise.
Lawmakers then adopted the committee’s recommendations. They unanimously approved Dr. Ladipo Olabode Taiwo’s nomination to serve as Commissioner in the Oyo State Executive Council.
Governor Seyi Makinde had forwarded Dr. Taiwo’s name to the House in a letter dated June 30, 2026. The nomination was made in line with Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
In the letter addressed to the Speaker, Makinde requested “usual kind and expeditious consideration” of the nomination. He notified the House of his desire to present Dr. Taiwo for screening and confirmation as Commissioner.
The governor explained that the nomination complied with constitutional provisions guiding commissioner appointments. He expressed confidence that the Assembly would give the nominee a fair and prompt screening process.
Presenting the committee report, Deputy Speaker Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi told members that the committee had screened Dr. Taiwo. He informed the House that the nominee was found qualified, competent, and suitable for appointment.
Dr. Taiwo is not new to the Oyo State Executive Council. He previously served as Commissioner for Health under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration before this latest nomination.
