Operatives of Iru Ekun Security Network, founded by Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho, apprehended two suspected kidnappers in Ora-Igbomina, Osun State on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The coordinated operation also led to the rescue of two abducted civilians, while a search for the third victim is ongoing.

The intervention followed distress intelligence received on Tuesday, June 9, that three residents were abducted by armed men and taken into a nearby forest. In line with its mandate of “Securing Communities, Protecting Futures,” Iru Ekun’s rapid response team mobilized and began bush-combing operations within hours.

The Team Leader said the suspects confessed during interrogation that they are nationals of the Republic of Niger. The country, bordered by Nigeria and Benin to the south, has experienced security spillover that continues to affect border communities across West Africa.

The suspects admitted abducting three persons on June 9 and leading them into the forest. During contact with Iru Ekun operatives, the two kidnappers were overpowered and arrested while resisting arrest. Two victims were secured unhurt and evacuated immediately, while search efforts for the third continue.

In compliance with Nigerian law, the suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Police Division, Oke-Ila, Osun State, on June 10 for documentation, investigation, and prosecution. Iru Ekun stressed that its role remains complementary to the constitutional duties of the Police and other security agencies.

Chief Sunday Igboho commended the operatives’ discipline and professionalism. He reiterated that Iru Ekun was established to support government efforts through early warning, intelligence gathering, and rapid response in rural areas where conventional security response is often delayed.

“Our duty is prevention and protection, not confrontation,” Igboho stated. He said Iru Ekun exists to bridge security gaps at the grassroots, work within the law, and ensure residents can farm, travel, and sleep without fear.

Igboho urged traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents across Osun and neighboring states to strengthen local vigilance and share timely information with security agencies. Iru Ekun assured the public that rescue efforts for the remaining victim are ongoing with caution, and further updates will be issued as the operation progresses.
