In his Democracy Day message, Akande said 27 years of civil rule reflects Nigerians’ resilience and collective will to build a nation where every voice matters. He described the milestone as a testament to the people’s commitment to democratic values.

“As we celebrate 27 years of uninterrupted democracy, I salute the good people of Ibadan South West. You are the reason we serve. We are driven by you, and our focus is to keep adding value to your daily lives through policies and projects,” the Chairman stated.

Akande called for prayers and support for students and staff abducted in Oriire Local Government. He described the incident as painful and urged residents across Oyo State to stand in solidarity with the affected families.

“I join millions of Nigerians in praying for the safe and easy return of the students and staff kidnapped in Oriire. Their absence is felt by all of us. We must not grow weary in prayer and in pushing for their release,” he said.
